CRANBOURN is a London-based British design house specialising in fine fragrance for interiors. Founded by husband-and-wife Simon and Abigail Joy, the brand approaches fragrance as a design discipline—shaping interior atmosphere through scent, material and form.
For its founders, fragrance is fundamental to the experience of interior space. Like architecture, light and materiality, scent shapes atmosphere, influences perception and defines the character of an environment. Yet much of the existing fragrance market lacked the craftsmanship, authenticity and purpose they sought. Few products reflected their commitment to sustainability, respect for the natural world or appreciation of considered design—an opportunity they believed was ready for a different approach.
From Design to Fragrance
Growing up between cultures and landscapes, Simon developed an appreciation for the ability of scent to define place and evoke memory—from the vibrant freshness of lemongrass in West Africa to the unmistakable character of lavender in the South of France. These experiences, together with a lifelong fascination with the natural world, revealed fragrance as far more than a pleasing aroma. Like architecture and light, it is an invisible element that shapes atmosphere, emotion and our experience of space.
After more than two decades working with some of Italy’s most respected design and luxury brands, Simon came to view fragrance through the lens of architecture, craftsmanship and enduring design. He recognised the opportunity to reimagine fragrance as a design discipline, uniting exceptional materials, thoughtful composition and timeless aesthetics within a contemporary design approach.
United by a shared belief in the power of fragrance to enrich everyday life, Simon and Abigail founded CRANBOURN to create compositions of lasting integrity. Working with leading international perfumers, they unite the traditions of fine perfumery with British design to create fragrances that enrich interiors and elevate the experience of the spaces we inhabit.
A Different Way of Building a Brand
From its inception in 2018, CRANBOURN was founded with a simple ambition: to build a different kind of design house. Simon and Abigail believed that thoughtful design, exceptional quality and responsible business should be inseparable, creating long-term value for both people and the natural world.
This philosophy led CRANBOURN to align with organisations including Certified B Corporation, reflecting a commitment to balancing commercial success with positive social and environmental impact. It remains central to the way the business is conceived, designed and managed—a philosophy captured in two words: Another Way.
From the beginning, the ambition has been to unite fine perfumery, British design and exceptional craftsmanship to create beautifully made objects of lasting quality, designed with integrity and intended to enrich the spaces they inhabit.

Our founders work in close partnership with our Master Perfumers—internationally renowned fragrance creators whose expertise has been shaped by decades at the forefront of fine perfumery. Together, they share a belief that the most enduring compositions are created with restraint, balance and precision.
Every CRANBOURN fragrance is thoughtfully composed using exceptional ingredients, uniting the traditions of fine perfumery with a contemporary design perspective. The Language of Colour
The CRANBOURN colour palette draws inspiration from the enduring materials, textures and tones of architecture and the natural world. Influenced by natural stone, limewashed plaster, mineral pigments, weathered timber, softly patinated metals and the changing qualities of natural light, it reflects an architectural sensibility defined by restraint, balance and timelessness.
Warm sandstone, duck egg blue, chalk white and rich bronze have been chosen to complement contemporary interiors, creating a visual language that is calm, understated and enduring. Together, they express the subtle interplay of materiality, texture and light that gives beautifully designed spaces their distinctive character.
Like every fragrance composition, the visual identity is purposeful. Colour, material and scent work in harmony to create objects that sit naturally within interiors, enriching atmosphere and shaping the experience of the spaces they inhabit.
