Our Approach to Responsible Business

CRANBOURN® was founded with the intention of operating differently — recognising that commercial success and responsible practice should be mutually reinforcing. Our founders believed a business should consider not only profit, but also its wider impact on people, communities, and the environment.

This philosophy is reflected in #AnotherWay, a principle that continues to guide how CRANBOURN® operates today.

What is a B Corp?

B Corp certification is awarded to companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

Certified B Corporations are assessed across areas including governance, environmental impact, employee practices, community engagement, and customer responsibility. Companies must demonstrate that they consider the interests of all stakeholders — employees, customers, suppliers, communities, and the environment — when making business decisions.

Why CRANBOURN® Joined the B Corp Movement

In 2020, CRANBOURN® joined the B Corporation movement, recognising that its framework closely reflected the company’s existing values and long-term philosophy. By joining a global community of like-minded businesses, CRANBOURN® sought to reinforce its commitment to responsible and transparent business practices.

The first step in the certification process was to amend CRANBOURN®’s company constitution (its Articles of Association) to formally embed stakeholder responsibility within the company’s governance. This change enabled the company to obtain B Corp Pending status, after which a comprehensive assessment of its operations, supply chain, and environmental and social impact began.

Following this independent evaluation, CRANBOURN® achieved full B Corp certification in 2021, joining a global community of organisations committed to balancing commercial success with positive social and environmental impact.

A commitment to responsible governance

B Corp certification requires companies to consider the impact of their decisions on employees, customers, suppliers, communities, and the natural environment.

For CRANBOURN®, this means responsibility is embedded within how the company designs products, works with partners, and operates as a business.

Certification requires ongoing accountability

B Corp certification is not permanent.

Companies must undergo regular reassessment and recertification to maintain their status. This process ensures certified companies remain accountable and continue improving their social and environmental performance over time.

Responsibility Extends Beyond the Product

Producing high-quality products does not necessarily mean a company operates responsibly. Even when products appear to be sourced sustainably or deliver positive outcomes, other aspects of a company’s operations may still have unintended social or environmental impacts.

True responsibility requires examining the business as a whole — from governance and supply chains to environmental practices and the treatment of employees and communities.

Social and Environmental Responsibility

Achieving B Corp certification requires a comprehensive assessment of how a business operates across all areas — from governance and supply chains to environmental impact, employee practices, and customer responsibility. The process is designed to ensure companies meet rigorous standards of transparency, accountability, and social and environmental performance.

When you see the B Corp logo, it signifies that a company has been independently assessed against these standards and verified as meeting the requirements of the B Corp framework.
