Picture-perfect, this iconic Greek island located in the Aegean’s Southern Cyclades is instantly identifiable from the startling whites and contrasting rich blue tones.

White-washed homes bake in the sun clustered on dramatic clifftops, surrounded by weaving streets. Eye-catching black sand beaches contrast with the glaring blue sky. It’s an island of contrast, with a remarkable history.

Breath-taking beauty

Santorini’s namesake is Saint Irene or Santa Irini, the name of the cathedral in the village of Perissa.

The island, situated in the Aegean Sea, was the site of the Minoan eruption: one of the largest volcanic eruptions ever recorded. The huge eruption, which occurred around 3600 years ago, left behind the dramatic caldera and renowned landscape Santorini is known for.

The signature sunsets over the sparkling seas make for an iconic photograph: which is why picturesque Santorini can be overwhelmed with travellers and holidaymakers through the high season.

A traditional Greek escape

From the splendour of volcanic Red Beach to the sights of prehistoric Akrotiri, Santorini is steeped in history and culture. Step back in time and immerse yourself in Greek life, exploring historic churches, hiking along the caldera or taking in the sights from a boat.

The island boasts plenty of unforgettable experiences, beautiful sights and unsurprisingly delicious food. No Grecian trip is complete without experiencing the mouth-watering cuisine. Santorini is known for classic traditional dishes, along with the unique Santorini tomato and fava, a creamy yellow split-pea purée.

The fragrance of Santorini

The volcanic land of Santorini and its unique arid climate has enabled the production of high-quality agricultural products. There are copious vineyards and wineries, and sipping wine while watching the sunset over the caldera is a popular pastime.

The volcanic activity made the island’s soil fertile, where the Mediterranean flora and fauna thrive despite low rainfall. Citrus, olive, fig and pine trees and vineyards are synonymous with the island, as well as bougainvillaea, jasmine and herbs like basil, mint and anise. Santorini’s ingredients are of excellent quality, but production remains small-scale due to the size of the island.

The CRANBOURN® Escape to Santorini™ fragrance encapsulates the iconic Greek island, with Mediterranean citrus scents and oceanic fresh notes from mint and basil. Escape to the signature white houses without leaving your home with our luxury reed diffuser and scented candle.
