Explore Geranium Matching Fragrances

Geranium

Family: Geraniaceae
Genus: Pelargonium
Species: P. graveolens, P. radens, P. capitatum

Geraniums are native to South Africa, and today they are grown in several countries for the commercial production of Geranium oil. A range of species and cultivars are grown for their oil – and each has its unique fragrance.

Geranium oil is usually extracted by steam distillation of the leaves. The oil has a complex chemical composition, including large amounts of geraniol and citronellol, and it is widely used in fragrances and cosmetics.

Geranium oils have been used for hundreds of years in ancient medicine and aromatherapy.  Studies have found Geranium oil to have several medicinal properties, including being anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and aiding mood improvement.
